Indiana Canine Assistant Network
The Indiana Canine Assistant Network (ICAN) is one of three national nonprofit organizations in the country that uses offenders in prisons to train assistant dogs. By building partnerships through the training and placement of assistance dogs, opportunities are created for at-risk youth, adults and people with disabilities. Baker & Daniels has worked on transactional matters related to ICAN's releases of liability, confidentiality agreements and transfer of ownership agreements.

Genetic Alliance
Frank Swain of Baker & Daniels was honored by the Genetic Alliance for his pro bono service that helped advance a landmark piece of genetic fairness legislation. Professionals in the firm's Washington, D.C. office provide regular counsel to the Genetic Alliance, an umbrella group of more than 100 health-related organizations advocating the enactment of federal legislation prohibiting discrimination on the basis of personal genetic information.

Baker & Daniels' Washington, D.C. office works with a business manager at Gallaudet University, a federally chartered school for the deaf in the nation's capital, to provide informal counsel on business and administrative issues that arise.
